THIRIET Béatrice

Trained in composition by Jean Aubain and Solange Ancona, Béatrice Thiriet is a French composer whose main fields of expression are film music and opera. Her piano training was notably shaped by her encounter with pianist Mikhail Rudy.

In 2000, she was awarded the Nadia and Lili Boulanger Prize by the Académie des Beaux-Arts for her opera Nouvelles histoires d’elle, premiered in Paris.

She has composed around fifty film scores, as well as several symphonies and chamber music works.

She is also a journalist, music critic, and short film director.

Among her many nominations, she received the Prix Lumières for Best Music for L’Astragale, a César nomination for Best Original Score for Bird People, and the France Musique SACEM Award for Le Cœur des hommes, Bird People, and L’Astragale.

In November 2007, she launched a weekly radio program on Radio Classique titled Femmes de musique, aired every Wednesday.

She teaches film music composition at the École Normale de Musique de Paris.
