Initiated by Pierre Lenert, in collaboration with the École Normale de Musique de Paris – Alfred Cortot and the Embassy of Belgium, the Henry Vieuxtemps Days will take place on 5 and 6 October 2026. This exceptional event aims to celebrate and promote the work of one of the greatest nineteenth-century musicians among artists, students and the general public.
On 5 October, the programme will feature three events:
- 4:00 p.m. – Lecture by Agnès Briolle-Vieuxtemps, musicologist and pianist and great-great-granddaughter of the composer, exploring his life, works and legacy (Salle Munch). REGISTRATION
- 5:30 p.m. – Viola masterclass by Pierre Lenert, Professor at the École Normale de Musique de Paris, dedicated to the works of Henri Vieuxtemps (Salle Cortot). REGISTRATION
- 8:00 p.m. – Recital by Pierre Lenert and Etsuko Hirose (Salle Cortot), celebrating Vieuxtemps’ remarkable contribution to the viola repertoire. REGISTRATION
These events offer students a unique opportunity to explore Henri Vieuxtemps’ artistic, pedagogical and musicological legacy while discovering his significant contribution to the history of the viola.
The Henry Vieuxtemps Days will continue on 6 October with a student recital by Pierre Lenert’s viola class in the School’s salons. Admission is free and open to all.
