The admission process

You wish to study at the École Normale de Musique de Paris ?

Admission process is conducted through application, video registration, and audition. The audition is aimed at assessing your precise level within the curriculum.

1 – Application Submission



Here is the list of items required for your online registration:

  • Copy of your passport or identity card
  • 1 passport-sized photo
  • Motivational letter in French or English
  • Musical curriculum vitae in French or English
  • Copies of obtained musical diplomas (translated into French or English)
  • Video recording or YouTube link (recent – maximum 20 minutes free program (3 pieces of different styles))
  • Bank transfer of €600 (net after deduction of bank charges) to the bank account of the Association École Normale de Musique de Paris: (IBAN to be downloaded here) + specify the purpose of the transfer: “Admission (2024/2025) of Candidate’s Name and Surname”. Online admission application requires payment by Visa or Mastercard credit card.

Please note, this does not constitute final registration.

If your admission application file is complete and your candidacy is accepted, you will receive an admission certificate by email. This certificate will enable you to obtain a visa from the French Consulate in your country of origin.

2 – Audition

Upon your arrival in Paris in September or October, schedule an audition with the Study Director. The audition determines your precise level within the curriculum, the professor with whom you will study, and the mandatory complementary disciplines you will have to follow.

Content (for instrumental and vocal disciplines):

  • Presentation of 3 works of different musical styles representative of the candidate’s level.

3 – Administrative Registration

Registration is mandatory before starting classes.

The registration office is open from Monday to Friday from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm and from 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm.

To finalize the admission process, you will need to provide:

  • Certificate of the CVEC tax (Contribution Vie Étudiante et de Campus)
  • Document specifying the level and name of the professor for the main discipline (provided during the audition by the Study Director)
  • ID card for Europeans or passport with student visa or valid residence permit for non-EU students
  • 2 passport-sized photos
  • Payment of registration and tuition fees (by check, cash, credit card, or bank transfer)

Your student card and certificate of enrollment will be issued to you upon completion of administrative registration, indicating your registration is complete.
