Nominated for a Victoires du Jazz award in 2013 for his debut album “Brother Stoon,” winner of the Django Reinhardt Prize, and named Musician of the Year 2019 by the French Jazz Academy, Baptiste Herbin is an international musician who has released four albums under his own name: “Brother Stoon” in 2010 with André Ceccarelli, who helped propel him to the top; “Interférences” in 2014; and “Dreams and Connections” in 2017.
He has participated in some fifty recordings, including: Keith Brown’s “Sweet and Lovely” (2011), Aldo Romano’s “New Blood: The Connection” (2012), Essiet Essiet and Jeff “Tain Watts”‘s “Shona” (2014), the Fireworks Quartet with Jean-Charles Richard, Stéphane Guillaume, and Vincent David (2015), and the quintet “O Brasil do Saxofone” with Ademir Junior. (2017), in a duo with Alain Jean Marie (at Barloyd’s 2018) and Darryl Hall (2019), to name just a few.
He performs in Europe and around the world (Thailand, United States, Madagascar, Brazil, Peru, Colombia, Mexico, Serbia, Russia, etc.) and plays with some of the greatest musicians: Stefano di Battista, Robin McKelle, Julien Lourau, Ed Motta, Donald Brown, Roy Hargrove, Jean Toussaint, Mark Gross, Marcus Gilmore, Stéphane Belmondo, Ralph Bowen, Jean-Michel Pilc, Darryl Hall, Franck Avitabile, Baptiste Trotignon, Billy Hart, Mark Turner, Eric Harland, Alain Jean Marie, and others. He accompanied Charles Aznavour in 2014.
His fourth album, “Vista Chinesa,” released in 2020, is a tribute to Brazil and brings together some of the greatest Brazilian musicians. Baptiste is also a teacher and gives numerous masterclasses around the world.
