Benoît Fromanger is an international soloist and Emeritus Professor at the Hanns Eisler Hochschule für Musik in Berlin. From 2006 to 2010, he also served as a professor at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague. He studied flute at the Versailles Regional Conservatory and later at the Paris Conservatoire (CNSM), under renowned teachers such as Roger Bourdin, Alain Marion, and Jean-Pierre Rampal.
Principal Solo Flutist of the Paris National Opera Orchestra for ten years, his passion for orchestral music and his curiosity led him to Germany, where he was appointed Principal Solo Flutist of the prestigious Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra (under Lorin Maazel) and of the Chamber Orchestra of Europe. He was subsequently invited to perform with the Berlin Philharmonic and the Bayreuth Festival Orchestra.
This path allowed Benoît Fromanger to deepen his musical knowledge under the baton of legendary conductors such as Leonard Bernstein, Bernard Haitink, Zubin Mehta, Carlo Maria Giulini, Daniel Barenboim, Pierre Boulez, Colin Davis, Georg Solti, Carlos Kleiber, Riccardo Muti, and Mariss Jansons.
In parallel with his orchestral work, he has pursued an international solo career, premiering many works written for and dedicated to him. He has appeared in numerous festivals and major concert halls, accompanied by orchestras such as: the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, Orchestre d’Auvergne, Orchestre du Capitole de Toulouse, Munich Baroque Soloists, Munich Chamber Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra of Europe, Prague Chamber Orchestra, American Chamber Orchestra, KBS Orchestra of Seoul, NHK Symphony Orchestra in Tokyo, and the Montreal Symphony Orchestra.
Benoît Fromanger brings great variety to his career by participating in many performances, concerts, and chamber music ensembles alongside artists such as Gautier Capuçon, Mischa Maisky, Viktoria Mullova, Juliette Hurel, Katia and Marielle Labèque, Maxim Vengerov, András Schiff, Denis Pascal, Jessye Norman, Carolyn Carlson, Sylvie Guillem, Sting, Claude Bolling, Alessandro Baricco, and Julie Depardieu.
His discography, which includes numerous recordings for labels such as EMI, Forlane, Verany, Tudor, and Sony, has received many accolades, including the Grand Prix du Disque, Diapason d’Or, and American Awards.
He regularly gives masterclasses at the Royal Academy of Music in London, as well as in China, Korea, Japan, and across Europe, North America, and Latin America.
