Oana Unc began studying the cello in Romania, her native country. She was soon noticed by the prestigious teacher Alexandra Gutu, who guided her to the National Conservatory of Timișoara and then to the National Superior Conservatory of Bucharest.
Even before completing her studies, Oana Unc joined the National Radio Orchestra of Bucharest. After graduating, she was appointed assistant in the cello class at the same conservatory.
Chamber music plays an important role in her life. She is a member of the Schubert Quartet of Maastricht, the Boticelli Trio, among others.
Since 1999, Oana Unc has held the position of 3rd principal cello at the National Orchestra of France. She has performed under the direction of prestigious conductors such as Kurt Masur, Riccardo Muti, Seiji Ozawa, Bernard Haitink, and others.
She has been a cello professor at Ozoir-la-Ferrière since 2018 and a professor of orchestral sight-reading at the École Normale de Musique de Paris since 2021.
