Cortot Soloists

Cortot Soloists

From October 24 to November 1, 2026, the Cortot Soloists—an ensemble bringing together Korean alumni of the École Normale de Musique de Paris—will present in Seoul a series of five concerts titled “Between… Light and Void”. This initiative fosters a dialogue between French and Korean repertoires while celebrating artistic mentorship and transmission across generations.

A Musical Gathering Between Paris and Seoul

The Gala Concert will take place on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, at 7:30 PM at the Ilshin Hall in Seoul, featuring pianist Olivier Gardon, professor at the École Normale de Musique de Paris. Made possible through the school’s support, his appearance highlights the enduring artistic ties connecting faculty and alumni across borders.

The program will bridge works by Marin Marais, Édith Lejet, Henri Dutilleux, Claude Debussy, Maurice Ravel, and Francis Poulenc with compositions by Sung Doo-young and Kim Joo-hyung.

Four companion concerts, titled “Promenades”, will be held on October 24, 25, 31, and November 1 at 5:00 PM at the Paris Music Forum — Jayang Station, Seoul.

Transmission at the Heart of the Project

Led by the school’s Korean alumni, this concert series also embraces a philanthropic mission: all net proceeds will be dedicated to scholarships for students at the Seoul branch of the École Normale de Musique de Paris. It is a meaningful way to pass on to younger musicians the artistic heritage received during their studies.
