Presentation
The Graduate Cycle at the École Normale de Musique de Paris is a two-year program leading to a Graduate diploma, recognized at level 7 (master’s level) of the French National Register of Professional Certifications (RNCP).
The Graduate Cycle is a program of excellence for musical practice (individual and collective) and mastery of theoretical knowledge. Classes are taught by an internationally renowned teaching team. Master classes with leading artists complement this program. The Graduate diploma aims to support students in becoming professionals musicians and promoting their artistic projects.
Eligibility is based on an application file including:
- CV
- Copy of previously obtained diplomas
- Motivation letter (in French or English)
- A video recording of two jazz standards of the candidate’s choice and one composition, including an exposition of the melody and an improvisation on the form of the piece. The video must be made without editing or effects, and the candidate’s hands and face must be visible.
- A French language certificate at CEFR A2 level (to be provided no later than the end of the first year of studies)
Files must be submitted between February 16th and May 24th, 2026.
After the application is accepted, the candidate may be asked to submit a video recording of a required piece, chosen from a list that will be sent to them. The candidate must submit their recording within two to three weeks after receiving the list of required pieces. The final result will be communicated by email following this evaluation, along with a document outlining the educational program. However, the academic board may require a live audition (in person or online) as well as an interview to complete the assessment. Accepted candidates must then proceed with their enrollment at the ENMP administration office without delay.
Contents of the training course
The Graduate program consists of 32 weeks of classes per year and includes :
- One hour of private lessons per week in the following disciplines: piano, saxophone, singing, guitar, double bass, drums
- A two-hour weekly jazz workshop class
- A weekly 1.5-hour jazz writing class on two levels (combo and big band)
- A weekly 1.5-hour jazz harmony class on two levels
- A weekly 1.5-hour jazz history class on two levels
- A pedagogy module to be validated in the first year
- Access to classical group lessons at the École Normale de Musique de Paris
Fees and Scholarships
The annual cost of the program is €8 640, with additional fees:
• €400 registration fee for European students
• €600 registration fee for non-European students
A scholarship system is available upon request and based on a file review. Students must first pre-register online on the school’s website. Once they have obtained their student number, they can complete the online scholarship application form.
Students may also activate other forms of financing depending on their personal situation.
Other Jazz programs
Advanced training program
In addition to the Graduate Cycle, the jazz department also offers an advanced program comprising :
- one hour of individual lessons (piano, saxophone, singing, double bass, drums)
- access to theory classes in the jazz department,
- acecess to classical group classes and workshops at the school.
The annual cost of the program is €7,900, with additional fees:
• €400 registration fee for European students
• €600 registration fee for non-European students

Students may also activate other forms of financing depending on their personal situation.
Enhanced option
An enhanced option for school students comprising 15 hours of individual lessons per year. This option can only be taken in addition to a course of study.
