Gautier Garrigue is a drummer, guitarist, and composer born in 1987 and originally from the south of France.
A graduate of the Conservatory in 2002, he quickly established himself on the jazz scene, collaborating with renowned artists such as Henri Texier, Michel Portal, Seamus Blake, Christian Scott, Emile Parisien, David Enhco, The Drops, the Belmondo brothers, Logan Richardson, Jacky Terrasson, Baptiste Trotignon, Kyle Eastwood, and Enrico Pieranunzi. He has also performed with Yaron Herman, Vincent Peirani, Theo Croker, Thomas Enhco, Bojan Z, Géraldine Laurent, Paul Lay, Soweto Kinch, Walter Smith III, Chris Cheek, Jakob Bro, Uri Caine, Ben Van Gelder, Pablo Held, Paolo Fresu, David Kikoski, and many others.
A highly sought-after sideman, Garrigue has already appeared on over forty albums. His recent recordings include An Indian’s Life by Henri Texier, Guardians of the Heart Machine by Seamus Blake, Family Tree by David Enhco, Asmaraby Hermon Mehari, and The Mood for Love by Flash Pig — a group he co-leads, which was awarded the 2025 “French Album of the Year” prize by the Académie du Jazz.
Alongside his career as a performing artist, he occasionally teaches at the CMDL and the Paris Conservatory (CNSM), and regularly gives masterclasses around the world. In the fall of 2025, he was appointed professor at the École Normale de Musique de Paris – Alfred Cortot.
His debut album as a leader, La Traversée, released in fall 2024 on the PeeWee label, received unanimous critical acclaim (Jazz Magazine “Révélation”, Jazz News “Indispensable”, “Coup de Cœur” from the Charles Cros Academy). Featuring all-original compositions, the record brought together for the first time an outstanding lineup including Henri Texier, Émile Parisien, Vincent Lê Quang, Federico Casagrande, Maxime Sanchez, and Florent Nisse.
Described by Jazz Magazine as “one of the most sensitive and refined drummers on today’s scene,” and by Le Monde as “the most in-demand drummer of the moment,” Gautier Garrigue is currently a finalist in the “Newcomer of the Year” category at the 2025 Victoires du Jazz.
