Born in Brussels in 1965, David Linx is a singer, composer, lyricist, producer, and multi-instrumentalist. He is widely recognized as one of the leading voices in European jazz vocal music. With over 15 albums as a leader or co-leader, his work has led to collaborations with major figures in jazz (Toots Thielemans, Steve Coleman, Paolo Fresu, Diederik Wissels, Maria João, Ivan Lins, Gregory Porter), as well as in classical and world music.

He first gained international attention with the James Baldwin Project in 1986 and formed a long-standing and acclaimed duo with pianist Diederik Wissels in 1992. Together, they have released several award-winning albums and launched notable projects such as One Heart, Three Voices and Follow the Songlines.

On stage and in the studio, Linx has collaborated with a wide range of prominent artists including Nathalie DessayPhilippe CatherineCharlotte RamplingClaude NougaroRichard GallianoMichel PortalMino CineluMarc RibotSheila JordanMinino Garay, and The Dutch Metropole Orchestra, among many others.

His many awards and honors include two Victoires du Jazz (2011, 2019), several Grand Prix from the Académie du Jazz and the Académie Charles Cros, an Edison Jazz Award (Netherlands), a JazzIt Award (Italy), the Octave d’Honneur (Belgium), multiple Choc distinctions from Jazz Magazine, and more. He has been named Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres in France and Chevalier de la Couronne in Belgium.

A dedicated educator, he has been a vocal professor at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels since 1995 and gives masterclasses worldwide. He has also composed for dance and film (O Heroi, winner of the Sundance Film Festival World Cinema Award), and led large-scale orchestral projects such as Changing Faces and O Grande Kilapy.
