His interpretations of Poulenc, Satie, Fauré, Saint-Saëns, and above all Ravel and Debussy, are celebrated for their elegance, tonal beauty, and stylistic perfection.
Born into a family of musicians in Paris, Rogé displayed musical talent from an early age. After distinguished studies at the Paris Conservatoire, he won several major prizes, including the Georges Enesco Piano Competition and the Premier Grand Prix at the Long-Thibaud Competition. His artistic and personal development was profoundly influenced by pianist and mentor Julius Katchen, as well as by the legendary Nadia Boulanger.
At the age of seventeen, he became an exclusive Decca artist.
Since then, Mr. Rogé has performed in nearly all of the world’s great concert halls, both in solo recital, chamber music, and with the leading orchestras across the globe. He has collaborated with many of the most eminent conductors of our time, including Lorin Maazel, Michael Tilson Thomas, Mariss Jansons, Charles Dutoit, Kurt Masur, Edo de Waart, Alan Gilbert, David Zinman, Marek Janowski, Sir Andrew Davis, and Raymond Leppard.
One of the most acclaimed pianists in the world, he has received numerous awards, including two Gramophone Awards, a Grand Prix du Disque, and an Edison Award for his interpretations of the concertos of Ravel and Saint-Saëns, as well as for his complete recordings of the piano works of Ravel, Poulenc, Debussy, and Satie. More recently, Pascal Rogé has devoted many of his concerts to French repertoire, performing throughout Europe, the United States, and the Asia-Pacific region—particularly in Japan, where he also teaches regularly.
A passionate chamber musician, he also greatly enjoys performing with others, most notably in piano duo with his wife, Elena Font.
Pascal Rogé is deeply committed to supporting the next generation of artists. He is frequently invited to serve on the juries of international piano competitions and presided over the Geneva International Piano Competition in 2014.
Dedicated to teaching, he is currently Associate Professor at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance and the Royal Academy of Music in London, as well as Professor at the École Normale de Musique de Paris. He regularly gives masterclasses in France, Japan, the United States, and the United Kingdom.
