Sandra Chamoux received the highest distinctions in Christian Bernard\u2019s class at the Conservatoire \u00e0 Rayonnement R\u00e9gional (CRR) of Grenoble before being admitted with honors to the Haute \u00c9cole de Musique in Geneva, where she studied with Harry Datyner and was awarded the Premier Prix de virtuosit\u00e9 in 1992. A laureate of the Gian-Battista Viotti and Ferruccio Busoni international competitions in Italy, she also studied under Catherine Collard, Vlado Perlemuter, and Yevgeni Malinin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
An eclectic musician, Sandra Chamoux performs a wide-ranging repertoire both as a soloist and chamber musician, in France and abroad (Europe, China, India, United States…). She has performed under the direction of Jean-S\u00e9bastien B\u00e9reau, Marc Tardue, Patrick Souillot, Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric Bouaniche, and Nathalie Borgel \u2014 with whom, as part of the Symphonia M\u00e9dica orchestra, she recorded Rachmaninoff\u2019s Piano Concerto No. 2 live in concert.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She regularly shares the stage with artists such as Michel Moragu\u00e8s, Romain Leleu, Elsa Grether, Sergio Lamberto, Vadim Tchijik, Sonia Wieder-Atherton, Jean Ferrandis, the Herm\u00e8s Quartet, the Ath\u00e9na Trio, and the Liberquartet. Together with Florence Cioccolani, she has performed the complete works for two pianos and four hands by Rachmaninoff. Since 2015, she has also performed regularly with cellist H\u00e9l\u00e8ne Dautry; their recording of Brahms\u2019s two cello sonatas was released by Lyrinx.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Contemporary music holds a central place in her artistic journey. She has premiered and recorded works by Philippe Hersant, Jean-Claude Wolff, Sophie Lacaze, and Claire Vazart \u2014 including a piano sonata, a trio, and a song cycle written for her. She is also the dedicatee of two works by Florentine Mulsant, including Pr\u00e9lude, Aria et Final<\/em>, which she will premiere at Salle Cortot in 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Since 2016, she has collaborated with baritone Emmanuel Cury. Together they formed the Duo Phidyl\u00e9, whose recording of Duparc\u2019s M\u00e9lodies for Calliope received a Choc Classica<\/em> award in September 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In May 2021, her double album featuring Philippe Hersant\u2019s \u00c9ph\u00e9m\u00e8res<\/em> and Debussy\u2019s Images<\/em> was released on Calliope. It received glowing reviews in both France and Germany, as well as 5 stars from Classica<\/em> and 4 Diapasons<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In 2023, she joined the ensemble Des \u00c9quilibres for the recording of C\u00e9sar Franck\u2019s complete chamber music for strings and piano (Klarthe label), which was awarded 5 Diapasons<\/em> and 5 Classica<\/em> stars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Her upcoming solo piano album R\u00e9Sonare<\/em> will be released in 2025 by the Ind\u00e9sens label.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Sandra Chamoux teaches piano at the \u00c9cole Normale de Musique de Paris \u201cAlfred Cortot\u201d and at the CRD of Nanterre.
