St\u00e9phane Audard is a guitarist, arranger, educator, and musicologist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He began his musical studies at the Conservatory of Chamb\u00e9ry and furthered his training through masterclasses with renowned artists such as John Scofield, John Abercrombie, and Paul Bley. As a performer, he has recorded with artists including Michel Legrand, Ludovic de Preissac, and David Sauzay. He is also an accomplished arranger, having written for numerous big bands (Cergy, Troyes, Antony, Caen) and orchestras.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A distinguished professor in the Paris conservatory system, he teaches at the CRR (Regional Conservatory) of Paris and coordinates the jazz department at the conservatory of the 11th arrondissement. He earned his PhD in musicology in 2024, after defending a dissertation on the history of jazz education under the supervision of Laurent Cugny. In 2023, his research was recognized with the University of North Texas Special Collections Research Fellowship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Appointed as a ma\u00eetre de conf\u00e9rences<\/em> (associate professor), he also teaches at La Sorbonne and Paris Cit\u00e9 University. He is a research associate at IReMus (Institute for Research in Musicology) and serves on the editorial boards of several academic journals, including the Revue d\u2019\u00e9tudes du Jazz et des Musiques Audiotactiles<\/em>, the Journal de recherche en \u00e9ducation musicale<\/em>, and Epistrophy<\/em>.
