{"id":10482,"date":"2025-06-03T12:21:52","date_gmt":"2025-06-03T10:21:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ecolenormalecortot.com\/?p=10482"},"modified":"2025-09-12T17:24:41","modified_gmt":"2025-09-12T15:24:41","slug":"launch-of-the-jazz-department","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ecolenormalecortot.com\/en\/2025\/06\/03\/launch-of-the-jazz-department\/","title":{"rendered":"Launch of the Jazz Department !"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A new chapter begins: starting in October 2025, a Jazz Department will be added to the School\u2019s prestigious curriculum.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Renowned for the excellence of its advanced classical music programs, the \u00c9cole Normale de Musique de Paris is broadening its musical horizons with the creation of a <strong>new Jazz Department<\/strong>, dedicated to young professionals and students nearing the end of their higher education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Applications are open until July<\/strong>, but early registration is strongly recommended\u2014especially for students applying for a scholarship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A program designed for active musicians<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The curriculum offers <strong>advanced-level classes<\/strong> in:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>jazz piano<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>jazz voice<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>jazz double bass<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>jazz drums<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>jazz saxophone<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>These courses are intended for musicians already engaged in a professional career or looking to refine their skills at the highest level. Each student receives <strong>1 hour of private instruction per week<\/strong> (excluding school holidays), for a total of 32 hours throughout the year, in a setting tailored to the needs of working artists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A world-class teaching faculty<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The Jazz Department is led by internationally recognized artists and educators, committed to sharing their expertise and passion:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Bojan Z<\/strong>, Franco-Serbian pianist and key figure in the European jazz scene<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Yaron Herman<\/strong>, pianist and composer blending jazz, classical, and contemporary influences<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Joe Sanders<\/strong>, acclaimed American double bassist and composer<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Claudia Solal<\/strong>, vocalist and improviser with a unique, genre-defying voice<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>David Linx<\/strong>, a major figure in European vocal jazz<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Gauthier Garrigue<\/strong>, prolific French drummer with an international career<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>\u00c9mile Parisien<\/strong>, award-winning saxophonist and cornerstone of the French jazz scene<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>St\u00e9phane Audard<\/strong>, musicologist and specialist in jazz education history<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">An inspiring environment for creation<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Jazz students have access to the School\u2019s rehearsal rooms and studios, and actively take part in its artistic life\u2014especially through performances in the <strong>Salle Cortot<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A <strong>new jazz festival<\/strong> will launch in the 2025\u20132026 season to showcase student and faculty projects and support emerging jazz talent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A comprehensive and cross-disciplinary training<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Beyond instrumental study, students may also attend:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>jazz-specific theory classes (harmony, composition, jazz culture), led by St\u00e9phane Audard<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>group classes in classical music (solf\u00e8ge, analysis, music history)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>year-round workshops and masterclasses<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tai Chi sessions, physical therapy support, and access to the <strong>Digital Chair<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Daily access to the School<\/strong>, from Monday through Sunday<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Tuition and scholarships<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Annual tuition<\/strong>: \u20ac7,520<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Registration fee<\/strong>: \u20ac400 (EU students) \/ \u20ac600 (non-EU students)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A <strong>scholarship program<\/strong> is available, based on application and financial need.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Students must first register online. Once they receive their student number, they may complete the scholarship application form.
