A certificate is awarded upon completion of Level 3.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Specialized Class:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Specialized Music Theory: preparation for the Specialized Music Theory Certificate<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Levels 1, 2, and 3 are part of the framework of mandatory complementary teaching units required to obtain instrumental or vocal diplomas and are also accessible outside the diploma track. A specific class, composed of two levels, is intended for singers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The specialized music theory class leads to the Specialized Music Theory Certificate, awarded after an exam at the end of the first or second year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Sight-Reading<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The sight-reading course involves studying musical texts in order to develop:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Technical sight-reading abilities, both individually and in groups, and the ability to understand the character of a piece through its stylistic elements.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Knowledge of the repertoire from various historical periods, specific to the student\u2019s instrument.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Application of music theory and harmonic analysis studies.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Knowledge of musical terms and markings, primarily in French and Italian.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Specifically for singers: sight-singing in French, German, and Italian.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This complementary discipline is mandatory for diploma preparation and is also accessible outside the formal curriculum. A good level in music theory and on the instrument is required to follow this course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Analysis<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The analysis course focuses on the analytical study of scores to determine their harmonic and formal characteristics, as well as their stylistic features.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This course consists of three levels:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Harmonic Analysis<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Form and Style Analysis<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Specialized Analysis (the theme changes each year)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This course is mandatory for diploma preparation and is also accessible outside the formal curriculum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Music History<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The music history and repertoire course aims to provide students with essential chronological knowledge of major musical movements, as well as the lives and works of key composers, both as individuals and in relation to historical, social, political, and cultural events. It also allows students to enrich their musical understanding and discover major works of the historical repertoire through listening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The music history course is divided into two periods:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Period I:<\/strong>\u00a0From Gregorian Chant to the end of the 18th century<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Period II:<\/strong>\u00a0From the early 19th century to the Second Viennese School<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Each period corresponds to one academic year, alternating annually.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This course is mandatory for diploma preparation and is also accessible outside the formal curriculum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Advanced Specialized Music History<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The advanced specialized music history course aims to explore specific topics in music history in depth and to support students&#8217; historical and musicological research on a subject of their choice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The annual theme is defined at the beginning of the academic year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This course is optional in the context of diploma preparation and is also accessible outside
