Piano – Voice – Violin – Viola – Cello – Double Bass – Harp – Guitar – Flute – Oboe – Clarinet
1st, 2nd and 3rd divisions
3o minutes of coursework weekly + an additional 1.5 hours of observation of other student’s courses + complementary disciplines.
• Introductory musical course: ages 5 – 7 (1 hour weekly)
• Instrumental classes (and music theory): ages 7 – 14 (beginner or intermediate level) Disciplines: 3o minutes of coursework weekly + an additional 30 minutes of observation of other student’s courses + 1 hour of music theory
The École Normale de Musique de Paris accepts experienced amateur students, based on audition and available space.
1h weekly and free access to complementary disciplines.
The École Normale de Musique de Paris offers certain courses to the general public as auditors:
• Music History: 1.5 hours/week
A detailed overview of western music: Gregorian chant to the Second Viennese School
• Harmonic analysis: 2.5 hours/week
The fundamental elements of the harmonic construction according to the principles of tonal language.
• Orchestral direction
Only courses given in the Salle Cortot, based on schedule (generally 3 hours / bimonthly).
No diploma prerequisite or age limit.
The status of auditor does not permit involvement in a course, faculty review of class homework or participation in exams. Auditors aren’t eligible for a diploma from the École Normale de Musique de Paris.
