PREPARATORY PROGRAM
Piano – Voice – Violin – Viola – Cello – Guitar – Flute
3o minutes of coursework weekly + an additional 2 hours of observation of other student’s courses + complementary disciplines.
CHILDREN’S CLASSES
• Introductory musical course : ages 5 to 6 (1 hour weekly)
• Instrumental classes (and music theory) : ages 7 to 14 (beginner or intermediate level)
3o minutes of coursework weekly + an additional 30 minutes of observation of other student’s courses + 1 hour of music theory.
AUDITOR PROGRAM
The École Normale de Musique de Paris offers certain courses to the general public as auditors:
• Music History: 1.5 hours/week
A detailed overview of western music: Gregorian chant to the Second Viennese School
• Harmonic analysis: 2.5 hours/week
The fundamental elements of the harmonic construction according to the principles of tonal language.
• Orchestral direction
Only courses given in the Salle Cortot, based on schedule (generally 3 hours / fortnight).
No diploma prerequisite or age limit.
The status of auditor does not permit involvement in a course, faculty review of class homework or participation in exams. Auditors are not eligible for a diploma from the École Normale de Musique de Paris.
