For question concerning programmation or renting of the Salle Cortot, please see the website : www.sallecortot.com.

Exposure to an audience is an essential part of a young artist’s training. The École Normale de Musique de Paris gives students preparing a Diplôme Supérieur frequent opportunities to play in performance settings.

One of the venues where a student can expect to perform is the Salle Cortot (Cortot concert hall).

At the Salle Cortot, you may expect to see the following types of performances:

The « Concerts de Midi & Demi »

Since their debut in 1981, the « Concerts Midi & Demi » are an important part of the École’s student-performance culture.
More than 50 Concerts Midi & Demi are given each year in the Salle Cortot by the students in advanced levels.
These concerts take place Tuesdays and Thursdays, and occasionally Wednesdays, between October and April except during school holidays.
Entrance is open and free for the public.
For the 2013-2014 school year, some Concerts de Midi & Demi are organized in partnership with PIANISTE Magazine who records the performances and later distributes them along with their magazine.

Eligibility to play at one of the Concerts de Midi & Demi is reserved for students enrolled in Diplôme Supérieur de Concertiste (current or graduate), Diplôme Supérieur d’Exécution or Diplôme Supérieur de Musique de Chambre.

See programs of Concerts de Midi & Demi in the event calendar.

Public master classes

Each year in the Salle Cortot, the École Normale de Musique de Paris hosts several public interpretation classes.
The courses often feature teaching from well-known artists and teachers, such as Thomas Hampson, Felicity Lott, François-René Duchâble, Paul Badura-Skoda, Mstislav Rostropovitch, Inva Mula…

Students selected to participate in these master classes must be enrolled in Diplôme Supérieur d’Exécution as a minimum.

Entrance to Master Classes are free for all students and teachers of the Ecole Normale de Musique.

See the event calendar.

End of the year public competitions

Competitions are held at the end of the year for students in the of the upper classes, in recital format at the Salle Cortot.

Since it offers students the opportunity to play in a performance setting, spectators are warmly welcomed and entrance is free.
